About FIDOR Bank AG

Fidor Bank AG is a German digital bank founded in 2009 and headquartered in Munich, operating without branches and offering retail and business current accounts, a debit card, payments, savings and term deposits, overdrafts and loans (often via partners), alongside an API-driven marketplace and an online community model; it is also known for early integrations with cryptocurrency services such as Bitcoin.de that enabled expedited settlement for verified users. The bank is licensed and supervised by BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank and participates in the German statutory deposit guarantee scheme (Entschädigungseinrichtung deutscher Banken, EdB), which protects eligible deposits up to EUR 100,000 per customer. Corporate control has shifted over time: the group was acquired by Groupe BPCE in 2016, its technology subsidiary Fidor Solutions was sold to Sopra Banking Software (announced in 2020 and completed in 2021), and it exited the UK retail market in 2019, after which operations have focused on the German market with periodic adjustments to the product set and pricing. Accounts are opened and managed online under PSD2 strong customer authentication; fees, interest rates, card conditions and ATM terms are set out in the current price and service listing and can change, and marketplace products may involve third-party providers with their own terms and risks. The mobile and web apps provide standard functions such as real-time balances, transfers, standing orders and card controls, while compatibility with mobile wallets and third-party services depends on device, region and current partnerships. Customer support is handled through digital channels as specified in the bank’s service documentation. Prospective and existing customers should review the latest regulatory disclosures, price lists and contractual updates to understand deposit coverage, counterparty relationships in marketplace offerings and any strategic changes affecting the bank’s services.
